The electronica duo will hit New York's Hammerstein Ballroom on September 21 before heading to the west coast to play shows in San Francisco and Los Angeles. The Maccabees play raucous iTunes festival gig The Maccabees played an intimate gig in London tonight (July 28), at the Institute of Contemporary Arts venue, as part of the iTunes festival. The festival sees a gig a night happening at the venue throughout July. Singer Orlando Weeks introduced 'Good Old Bill' by saying: "This song is about my granddad and a tract engine so this is a train," speaking about drummer Robert Dylan Thomas's high hat effect. A raucous version of 'Precious Time' led to a mass sing along from the crowd, resulting in Weeks holding the microphone stand into the audience and getting a fan to sing. Afterwards Week said: "You can listen back to your voice and hate it as much as I do," referring to the fact that iTunes were recording the gig for later release. Following triumphant closer 'First Love' Weeks jumped on Thomas back and left the stage. |
